we understand the dilemma

As inflation has swept across the world, we've noticed an interesting trend. Produce being sourced via supply chains farther away have started to creep up to the same prices as local grown farmer's markets.

Just like you, we've always known we wanted to eat locally grown organic foods to minimize the distance between farm to plate and all the preservatives required to keep them from wilting.

What's usually stopping us? The price gap between supply chain produce and locally grown organic was so large most people don't make the leap.

However, that price gap is now closing so we decided to make the switch. So we started growing as a hobby.

We looked into a lot of farming types, but we needed something that was repeatable, predictable, and grows fast. On top of that we wanted an operation that can be grown year round in the midwest climate and run completely off solar if the grid goes down.

Microgreens was the answer and once we got the process down to a science we started sharing our microgreens with friends & family.

It grew from there. Intentional pun.

We believe in transparency so here's everything that happens from seed to plate.

Day 1

Your microgreens start their journey being spread across an organic coconut coir soil mix with a neutral pH so we can add our preferred nutrients in later in the process.

When growing microgreens indoors it's very important to keep the climate controlled as well as humidity. This is to walk a fine line between dryness of the soil and avoiding mold which these are susceptible to.

Day 1-3

After misting our seeds and soil, we put your future microgreens under stress by applying weight to them for a few days. This helps speed up the germination process and one of the reasons we can harvest so fast.

Days 4 - 6

Now that your green little friends have taken root, it's time to provide a different type of growth encouragement...

We want them to hold on to as much nutrients as possible by growing tall so we put them in total darkness so they continue lifting higher in search for light.

Days 7 - 14

This is probably closer to the growing process that you envisioned. We stop trying to encourage faster growth through stress or blackout and move them under LED grow lights.

If we haven't already, this is where we start introducing pH balanced organic nutrient water through bottom-feeding.

Days 12 - 14

Now, for the part you've been waiting for—getting your fresh, organic microgreens!

Typically, your microgreens will be ready for delivery by day 12. Once you've completed the checkout process, you'll receive a confirmation email with the expected delivery date. Deliveries and pickups usually happen on Thursdays, unless we've made other arrangements with you. Just leave your used tray outside for pickup, and we'll swap it with a fresh tray full of new microgreens!
